ABB | 50 Years Corporate Research Center

Research is built on vision. Innovation is built on research. And our future is built on innovation. For its 50-year anniversary, the ABB Corporate Research Center Baden-Dättwil is celebrating this cycle.

Scientific progress is the outcome of vision, research and innovation, and shapes the future of us all. ABB is presenting this cycle to representatives from the areas of politics, business and research, thereby capturing the spirit of its slogan: Let’s write the future. Together.  

One hundred guests from the areas of business, politics and the press have been invited to explore the centre’s global significance. The event will begin by examining visions, with employees’ ideas about the future projected on the walls of the campus. Molecular appetizers from the future will also be offered before the guests move to the auditorium to learn about the centre’s research. Each former research director will address the audience in video messages until Stefan Ramseier, the current Managing Director, and Bazmi Husain, CTO of ABB International, join the stage. In conversation with Tobias Müller, the moderator of the SRF series Einstein, they will discuss their own visions for the future.  

Next, guests can explore exciting mobile knowledge laboratories on campus while enjoying brain food and smoothies. For example, they can meet the ABB robot Yumi, who will perform magic tricks. Dinner will take place in the staff restaurant and will be accompanied by a speech by the CEO of ABB International, Ulrich Spiesshofer. Hostesses with iPads will capture photos and guests’ visions throughout the event, which will be displayed via a large projector to conclude the evening.
