TIME Magazine | Welcome Reception 2019

TIME Magazine welcomes its renowned guests to Davos with its Welcome Reception. Since 2019, Live Lab has organised the event, combining a relaxed start to the Davos week with productive networking.

At the TIME Welcome Reception at the Hotel Intercontinental Davos with over 600 registered guests, host TIME Magazine, together with main sponsor Sompo Holdings and cloud software giant Salesforce, welcomed its strategic partners. Inside the elegant venue, we created a surprising contrast to the snowy backdrop of Davos and immersed all guests sonically, visually and culinarily in an exotic lounge ambience. The skilful transformation of lounge and terrace created an elegant balancing act between sophistication and nonchalance, exclusivity and relaxation. 

The evening’s speakers included the CEO of TIME, Edward Felsenthal, the CEO of SOMPO Holding, Kenko Sakurada, the CEO of Salesforce, Mark Benioff, and musician and producer Will.i.am.  

In an elegant and glamorous setting, the custom cocktail “The Sompo” was served in elegantly designed martini glasses alongside many vegan and vegetarian dishes, and a special Coconut Vodka was introduced. One of the highlights of the evening was a traditional sake ceremony, the “Kagami Wari”, where all invited guests toasted the evening together with “Masu” wooden cups. The ceremonial act drew much applause from the interested visitors. 

The space, which was predominantly bathed in red light, conveyed a feeling of euphoria and warmth, and subtly translated the corporate colours of TIME and Sompo into the festive setting. The band “LT” provided the musical background for the evening. Thanks to cozy blankets, fire bowls and mulled wine the Nuts & Co. Lounge Bar terrace offered the guests the ideal ambience to exchange ideas, deepen conversations and make valuable connections.
